Picadillo: Cuban Beef Hash
1/4th cup Olive Oil
1 medium onion
1 green bell pepper chopped no seeds
4 cloves of garlic chopped
1 pound of ground beef
1/4th cup of dry white wine
½ cup of tomato sauce
1 tablespoon of salt
1 tablespoon of Worchester sauce
½ teaspoon of Tabasco (or more if u like spicy)
2 handfuls of shoe string french-fries, (the frozen kind) 1/4th cup of raisins (Mike doesn’t like the raisins, but I do) ½ cup of olives with the pimentos, the small olives drained
* This can be served with white rice or add shredded cheese instead of raisins for burrito or taco filling
Add shoestring fries to oven and heat according to instructions
Heat the olive oil over low heat until fragrant; add the onion, bellpepper, garlic stir for 10 mins
Add the beef stir and cook for 15 mins, drain the fat
Add wine, tomato sauce, Worchester and Tabasco turn the heat to medium and cook for 10 mins
Add the fries, raisins, salt and olives and cook for another 10-15 mins
This tastes better the next day, add a fried egg on top for a heart attack inducing breakfast!
Enjoy!
